We are excited to announce the second event for our Sippers Club with an evening of Jazz & Shiraz — A Celebration of Red Wine.

Featuring a delicious tasting of 8 wines, paired with the delicious jazz performance of Sarah Maclaine (vocals) Chris Bieniek (guitar) Annette & Nic Yates (Double Bass & Sax). Sit back and #SipSampleSmile through a wonderful night of beautiful jazz and tasty red wines.

Doors open at 7.30pm with first pour at 8pm.

The night will include sparkling shiraz on arrival, fabulous entertainment, all tastings, cheese platter, wine quiz and door prize. Our kitchen will also be open for meals and snacks.

Sarah Maclaine

Sarah Maclaine constantly delights audiences with her rich, velvety voice, fantastic vocal range, vast and eclectic repertoire, and vibrant stage presence.

She moves with ease from pop to jazz, blues to r&b.
You name it, she does it!

This engaging and versatile artist performs at major events, many well-known venues around Melbourne, weddings, and performs with some of Australia's finest musicians.

She is also an emcee, voice-over artist, backing vocalist and session singer.

Chris Bieniek

Chris’s career has seen him play across Melbourne in Jazz clubs, original music, big bands, acid jazz, funk and R&B groups and with several cover, tribute, pub and corporate bands. For 20 years Chris has played on the professional theatre scene (The Rocky Horror Picture Show) and performed on stage with some of Australia’s most well known artists including James Morrison, John Foreman, The Australian Pops Orchestra, Rob Mills (Australian Idol), Anthony Callea, Tim Watson (Taxiride), Adam Thompson (Chocolate Starfish), Silvie Paladino, Marina Prior, Kate Ceberano and Italian Crooner Patrizio Buanne & Richard O’Brien.

Locally, Chris is renowned for his virtuosity and chameleon like ability to adapt to both rock and jazz performance situations. His inspiration ranges from Hendrix, Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, Allan Holdsworth, Frank Gambale & the Chick Corea Elektric Band which paved the way to developing a love for Jazz, Jazz Fusion & everything in between.

Chris has performed during the Melbourne International Jazz Festival and as a solo artist at the Melbourne Guitar Show. He has also recorded two albums with EQ (Melbourne Fusion) group as well as having his own debut album ‘The Velvet Worm’. Chris continues to record and publish albums.

Annette Yates

As a music educator for over 30 years and performer of the double bass for a little longer than that, Annette's experience is wide and varied. She is a lover of jazz and improvised music however, being a bass player has adapted to many styles of music. A passionate and dedicated musician with a smile that lights up any room and a personality that has been described as viby, propulsive and warm hearted.

Annette has inspired many young upcoming musicians and played on stage with some of Australia's finest including Australian Jazz Legends Bob Sedergreen, James Morrison and the late Don Burrows to name a few. She was part of an all female contemporary jazz group Morgana who led the way for many young women artists. Annette recorded 2 albums with Morgana and other albums with International jazz pianist Mickey Tucker, Nina Ferro and Bob Sedergreen. Performance highlights include jazz festivals of Monsalvat, Wangaratta, Melbourne Fringe, Women's Jazz Festival.

Annette, along with husband Nic YateS, is the venue owner and manager of this wonderful live music venue in bayside Melbourne, The S Lounge & Bar, and continues to support other fellow performing artists to keep music live!
